What Is a Stretcher Elevator?

A stretcher elevator is an elevator type specially designed for transporting patient stretchers, wheelchairs, and medical equipment between floors in hospitals, clinics, care homes, and healthcare facilities. It has wider and deeper cabin dimensions than standard passenger elevators. Under Turkish regulations, all healthcare facilities across Istanbul and Turkey are required to have stretcher elevators installed.

Stainless steel or antibacterial-coated panels are used on cabin interior surfaces. Joints are minimized, corners are rounded for easy cleaning. Handrails are PVC-coated to meet hygiene requirements in medical environments.
